Nigerian National Network for Research and Training in Reproductive Health

The Nigerian Network comprises of seven centres at the University Teaching Hospital in Lagos, Sagamu, Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Jos. One of the early activities of the Network, since its inception in 1998, was the conduct of training programmes to enhance the laboratory and research capabilities of the centres. Training courses in immunoassay techniques always utilised reagents from Immunometrics.

Assay kits for a wide range of hormones in blood serum as well as the urinary metabolites - Estrone and Pregnanediol Glucuronides - as supplied by Immunometrics, have been found reliable for research and clinical care at all centres. The adoption of the same 'matched reagents' by the seven centres makes for easier quality assurance monitoring in the Network's multicentre research programmes.

Immunometrics assay kits have proved very user-friendly and rugged; these are important considerations in the maintenance of efficiency and effectiveness in laboratories with varying levels of resources and skills.
